Back to School Night Success

Thank you to everyone who attended back-to-school night!  It was a very HOT evening but the kids had fun and I really enjoyed seeing all of you!  If you did not fill out the forms in your welcome packet, please fill those out and return them on the first day of school.  Book orders are due by September 13.  There is information on putting in orders online.  By purchasing books through the book orders, you are helping me earn books and other supplies for our classroom!  Your child will receive a $5 gift certificate for a book from a book order for their birthday!  There is also a form to subscribe to High Five if you are interested.  It is a magazine that is designed specifically for children!  This is totally optional.  Please turn in the form even if you do not wish to subscribe.  This is another opportunity to earn supplies for the classroom.  For every subscription, we have the possibility to earn books and other supplies!  Please make sure that your child has a complete change of clothes in their locker.  These should be in a plastic bag with their name as we are having to double up on lockers!

A New Year!

I can't believe it!  It is almost the end of August!  In a little over one week Teacher Workshops will be starting!  It has been a wonderful summer full of swimming and playing and a little bit of traveling.  We have already bought all of our school supplies (some of them twice because we just can't resist using them.)  We are all excited for a brand new year!

I have been working in my classroom getting it ready for a new group of kiddos!  I can't wait to meet all of my new students and their parents!

Back to school night is on August 28!  This is a very important night for all of our students!  It is a time to meet the teacher, find the locker, the desk, put away supplies.  It is also a time to help alleviate some anxiety! It can be very scary for kids to enter a brand new building with new faces, new experiences and new expectations.  When you come to Back to School night with your 3 year old (or any child) you can help them feel at ease by showing them where their locker is, where they put their things, who their teacher is and where their room is.

Be sure to talk to your child about what they are excited about and what they may be feeling anxious about before coming to back to school night.  That way, you can help them to work through what they are nervous about.

I can't wait to meet all of you at back to school night!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!  hplasek@pp.k12.mn.us
